Album Version
Original version from American Idiot.
Fade Ending
Identical to the album version, except with an ending that doesn't go into Boulevard of Broken Dreams, but rather fades out instead for radio play. Featured on the digital single, and the CD1 and CD2 single for Holiday.
Clean Radio Edit
A radio edit from the American Holiday single. Backmasked the word 'fag,' as well as the phrase "Seig Heil" which was censored due to its use during World War 2 which was used to salute Adolf Hitler and retains the fade ending.
Lyrics
Say! Hey!
Hear the sound of the falling rain,
Coming down like an Armageddon flame,
The shame,
The ones who died without a name,
Hear the dogs howling out of key,
To a hymn called "Faith and Misery",
And bleed,
the company lost the war today
I beg to dream and differ,
From the hollow lies,
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On Holiday
Hear the drum pounding out of time,
Another protester has crossed the line,
To find, the money's on the other side,
Can I get another Amen? (AMEN)
There's a flag wrapped around a score of men,
A gag,
A plastic bag on a monument
I beg to dream and differ,
From the hollow lies,
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
On Holiday
The representative from California has the floor
Sieg Heil to the President Gasman,
Bombs away is your punishment,
Pulverize the Eiffel Towers,
Who criticize your government,
Bang, Bang goes the broken glass, and
ill all the fags that don't agree,
Trials by fire setting fire,
Is not a way that's meant for me,
Just cause,
Just cause because we're outlaws, yeah!
I beg to dream and differ,
From the hollow lies,
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives,
I beg to dream and differ,
From the hollow lies,
This is the dawning of the rest of our lives
This is our lives on holiday Good Foot

The song was first covered by the Irish pop punk band Scuba Dice in 2006 and charted at number eight on the Irish Singles Chart, number two on the download chart that week, and went on to be the 42nd-best-selling single of 2008 by an Irish artist.[12]
Hayseed Dixie also performed a bluegrass cover of the song on the band's album A Hot Piece of Grass.
The song "Dr. Who on Holiday", from the mash-up album American Edit, combines "Holiday", The KLF single "Doctorin' the Tardis", and the original theme from the television show Doctor Who, while the intro juxtaposes George W. Bush with the Daleks, a race of monsters from the aforementioned British television series.
